Leadership

A very good friend gave me a card last year around this time and at the end of the note this person left inside the included the verse Mark 10:31 "the first shall be last and the last shall be first." Kind of confusing right? Well according to just about any leadership course unselfishness is the key to a good leader. See, we don't run our lives and I think most of us know that God is actually in control. When we give up our lives to the Lord, the Lord takes leadership in our lives. Through His leadership in our lives we can intern be a leader to groups of people. Because God is our leader, we have to give him complete control of our lives. We have all heard of giving God control, but what does that include? In Matthew 22:37 it says, "Jesus replied, ' `You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'" These three things represent the three aspects of our body, our physical being, our mental being, and our soul, which is everything that we are, love, and do. So, in order to be a good and effective leader we have to give up everything and in turn God will lead us to where we are to be.

Leadership will happen when serving others becomes all we think about. In today's world: All leaders have focus placed on themselves. All servants have focused placed on others. If we become like the
second, then will surpass the first.

This is something that has been on my mind for quite awhile now..

Control..

I think it's because of everything that's been going on this year. College applications.. scholarships.. careers.. dreams..

It seems like everything is anything BUT in control. But that's when I have to stop and think about what Kevin said in his post; I'm NOT the one in control. I'm never GOING to be the one in control.

But when you're a control freak like me, and you reach this important cross-roads in your life, it's hard to just lay it all out there and be like.. "God, I want to be what YOU want me to be. It's in YOUR hands now!"

I think this is important for all of us right now. We ARE leaders in our youth group, whether we want to be, feel like we should be, or whatever, we're still leaders. People watch how we react to things. It'd be way easier to "check out" right now, and put church on the back burner, and focus on what WE want to do. But God has bigger plans for us!

Yes everything is starting to change. But God has us right where he wants us. It's important to remember that.

So let's try and make it our goal to remember what our true priorities are.. After all, we aren't the ones in control anyway!

By the way.. YOU'RE AWESOME GUYS!! AND I LOVE YOU!!!
